Campus campout FAQ
Do I need to register?
Yes. You need to register every member of the family that is attending the event and indicate whether each member is sleeping over.
What is included in the price of the ticket?
So much fun!! But, more specifically, a spot on the grass field for you to set-up camp, arts & crafts, games, a movie & popcorn, dinner, a drink, and an ice cream dessert. On Sunday morning, bagels, juice and coffee will be provided to all campers.
When can I come to the event?
Gates open at 2:00 p.m.
Will Castle Heights provide tents and sleeping gear?
No, campers and their families will need to provide that.
Can I bring my own food?
Certainly. But of course, NO ALCOHOL!!!!
Can I bring my own beverages?
Yes. Soft drinks will be provided during dinner and water stations will be provided for water throughout the day. BRING A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE. And of course, NO ALCOHOL!!!!
What’s for dinner?
A menu will be provided prior to the event but the BBQ dinner is prepared right on our campus on an outdoor grill. A limited number of vegetarian burgers will be provided this year but ONLY to those who indicate the number of vegetarian burgers on the registration form. Dinner will be served beginning at 5:00 pm for the hungriest campers but since the food is prepared fresh throughout dinner (and we have never run out in 9 years), we suggest that you avoid the lines, enjoy the Campout activities and eat whenever you're ready. The food lines are generally shorter or non-existent closer to 7:30 p.m.
Can I bring my camping stove, my gas-powered camping lantern, my electric grill, my “anything that is powered by gas or creates fire and heat”?
No, please leave those for your trips out into the real wilderness.
Can kids bring their scooters?
NO. Kids (or adults acting like kids) cannot bring scooters or any other wheeled vehicles. Wagons are permitted solely for transportation of camping gear.
Can I bring an inflatable mattress to sleep on inside my tent?
Yes. We will also have a station set up to inflate your air mattress but please bring a battery-powered air pump, if you have one, to cut down on the line.
Can I bring tables, lounge chairs and canopies?
Because this event is very popular and space is limited, you may only bring small tables and chairs that fit in, or behind your tent. If your furniture takes up too much space, you will be required to remove it.
Can I choose where to put my tent?
For the most part, yes. With the exception of Melanie’s Garden where one family won the entire space at the Spring Event auction, and Dudley Downs where one family won the space at a pre-event auction, you can put your tent anywhere on the field. However, since space is limited and we must have clear pathways, you will be directed by a volunteer to a specific area to pitch your tent.
Can kids sleep in other kids’ tents?
NO. Campers must sleep with their own parents or guardians.
Can I bring sporting equipment?
Yes, as long as it is safe to play around other people.
Can I just come on Saturday, enjoy the activities, eat dinner, watch the movie and go home?
Absolutely. But you still must register and pay the Dine-Only price for each member. Families not sleeping over must leave campus by 10:15 p.m., which is when all the planned activities for Saturday are completed, the gates are locked and the campers go to bed.
What time do the coffee and bagels arrive Sunday morning?
Not to worry, if you and/or your kids are early risers, the coffee, juice and bagels arrive around 7:00 a.m. Although Campout is not officially over until 11:00 a.m., the gates will open for campers to clean-up, pack-up and depart beginning at 7:00 a.m.
Can I invite other members of my family?
Yes, as long as there is a current or former Castle Heights student with you.
How do I register and pay?
What about T-Shirts?
